About

Matarama is a notebook kept by someone who lives with a Unimog, drives it and works on it.

Most of what you read here comes from first-hand experience: rebuilding a 416 DOKA from chassis to bodywork, deciding which gearbox and axle oils to use, thinking through which model suits which job. Model and series data has been compiled from Unimog books, factory documents and sources collected over the years.

Outdoor life, Unimogs and ham radio share one roof because they all lead to the same place: where the road, the network and the comforts end. There, a vehicle that can carry you and a radio that can make you heard can be much more than a hobby. That is why you will also find articles on low-power, battery-operated radio setups and amateur radio here.

Matarama is not a company or a shop; nothing is sold and there is no paid content. The ads on the site only help cover server and maintenance costs.

However carefully the information is compiled, mistakes can happen. If you spot an error, or have missing information or photos, I would be glad to hear from you through the contact form.
